Food allergies, when they exist, can play a major role in the lives of our family’s health. If you have ever suffered a severe allergic reaction, you know that it can be most uncomfortable or even life threatening. Many people keep an Epi-Pen on hand in case of accidental ingestion of common allergens like peanuts, shrimp and lactose to name a few.
Food sensitivities are not the same as food allergies. They are not a full-blown allergy, however they can create havoc in our gastrointestinal tract and how we feel. Food sensitivities and intolerances, however, are now becoming a growing problem to a greater and greater number of people. Most people go through life not even knowing they have these sensitivities even though they suffer chronic inflammation and gastrointestinal problems.
You may have food sensitivities or intolerances if you have issues like:
– Rashes—psoriasis, eczema, arthritis and other autoimmune disorders
– Joint aches and pains
– Lethargy or fatigue
– Bloating, gas, diarrhea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other GI disorders
– Fuzzy or foggy thinking
– Weight gain and inability to lose weight
These are just some of the symptoms you may experience. In order to pinpoint and rule out food sensitivities, Renewed Vitality uses the ALCAT Test which is the leading source for food sensitivity testing.
HOW THE TEST IS PERFORMED
You are provided a test kit from Genova Diagnostics which require a small blood draw. You can get this lab work done right in our office lab or you can take it to a lab to get your blood drawn. It is then sent immediately to the test lab, that performs the testing. White blood cells are tested for immunoglobulin reactions against as many at 400 plus different foods, chemicals and other environmental substances. This is much more cost and time effective than the lengthy test of doing it a little at a time.
Results are quick, accurate and very easy to read in a color-coded format. Sensitivities and intolerances have been shown to be associated with many types of chronic and acute illnesses. Those who suffer from such illness may benefit by knowing exactly how possible food and chemical intolerances are affecting their bodies. ALCAT testing allows cutting edge technology to create personalized nutritional planning resulting in improvements you can see and feel.
ALCAT test results are compiled into easy-to-use lists showing any foods or chemicals with mild, moderate or more severe reactions. Along with this comes a nutritional plan that is specifically designed for you based on your immune responses. This gives you the ability to remove foods that give you problems and as a result many clinical symptoms may be substantially improved and possibly be prevented altogether. Medical studies have shown that by using these dietary guidelines, over a half a million people have been helped in improving their health.
Your ALCAT test results include:
- An easy to read and understand color-coded test report.
- A list of foods to avoid.
- A comprehensive “Understanding your ALCAT Test Results” guidebook.
- A personalized rotation plan.
- A practical shopping guide and restaurant card.
Here at Renewed Vitality we are always looking to find the root causes of adverse symptoms and chronic conditions. This may include testing for immune system reactions you may be having to certain foods or chemicals. The Alcat Test has proven very valuable in uncovering food sensitivities or intolerances in some of our patients that can be relieved by dietary changes.
