Food Sensitivites Testing

GI tract image
Food sensitivities can wreak havoc on the GI tract and cause a wide variety of issues.

Food allergies, when they exist, can play a major role in our health and our family’s health.

If you have ever suffered a severe allergic reaction, you know it can be uncomfortable — or even life-threatening. Many people keep an EpiPen on hand in case of accidental ingestion of common allergens like peanuts, shrimp, and lactose, to name a few.

Food sensitivities are not the same as food allergies. However, while they are not full-blown allergies, they can wreak havoc in our gastrointestinal tract. And this affects how we feel — physically and mentally.

Food sensitivities and intolerances are now becoming a growing problem for a greater and greater number of people. And most people go through life not even knowing they have these sensitivities, even though they suffer from chronic inflammation and gastrointestinal problems.

Do You Think you Have Food Sensitivities?

You may have food sensitivities or intolerances if you have issues like:

  • Rashes, psoriasis, eczema, arthritis
  • Autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto’s disease
  • Joint aches and pains
  • Allergies
  • Lethargy or fatigue
  • Bloating, gas, diarrhea
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other GI disorders
  • Brain fog
  • Weight gain and the inability to lose weight

In order to pinpoint and rule out food sensitivities, Renewed Vitality uses the ALCAT Test, the leading source for food sensitivity testing.

This test will identify 150 foods, 20 different molds, and 30 food additives and colorants that you may be sensitive to. Then we can take steps to restore your health and alleviate your symptoms.

How the ALCAT Test Works

First, you receive a test kit from ALCAT which requires a small blood draw. You can get this lab work done right in our office lab, or you can take it to a lab to get your blood drawn.

After the blood draw, we immediately send the test to the lab that performs the testing. White blood cells are tested for immunoglobulin reactions against over 200 foods, chemicals, and other environmental substances. This is much more cost and time-effective than the lengthy process of testing a little at a time.

Results are quick, accurate, and very easy to read in a color-coded format.

Sensitivities and intolerances have been associated with many types of chronic and acute illnesses. Those who suffer from such illness may benefit by knowing exactly how potential food and chemical intolerances are affecting their bodies.

ALCAT testing uses cutting-edge technology to create personalized nutritional planning, resulting in improvements you can see and feel.

Testing Results

ALCAT test results are compiled into easy-to-use lists showing any foods or chemicals with mild, moderate, or more severe reactions.

Along with this comes a nutritional plan that is specifically designed for you based on your immune responses.

Your provider will go over your results with you and help you come up with a plan to eliminate the offending foods from your diet, and when it may be appropriate to add them back in.

This gives you the ability to remove foods that give you problems. As a result, many clinical symptoms may be substantially improved and possibly prevented altogether.

Medical studies have shown that by using these dietary guidelines, over half a million people have been helped to improve their health.

Your ALCAT test results include:

  • An easy-to-read and understand color-coded test report.
  • A list of foods to avoid.
  • A comprehensive Understanding Your ALCAT Test Results guidebook.
  • A personalized rotation plan.
  • A practical shopping guide and restaurant card.

Here at Renewed Vitality, we are always looking for the root causes of adverse symptoms and chronic conditions. This may include testing for immune system reactions you may have to certain foods or chemicals. The ALCAT Test has proven very valuable in uncovering food sensitivities or intolerances in some of our patients that can be relieved by dietary changes.

Celiac (Gluten) Testing

In addition to ALCAT Food Sensitivities Testing, we provide Celiac testing through Quest Diagnostics.

Celiac disease is an auto-immune disorder where the body attacks itself with its own antibodies when triggered by ingesting gluten, a protein found in wheat and barley.

In people with Celiac disease, the immune system attacks the small intestine, which can cause some very unpleasant digestive issues:

  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Weight loss

Additionally, a compromised intestine and gut microbiome can lead to other autoimmune disorders such as Hashimoto’s disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and more.

And, since up to 70% of your immune system is located in your gut, Celiac disease can also cause your entire immune system to be compromised.

If you think you may have Celiac disease, contact us for this simple blood serum test.
