Renewed Vitality is pleased to announce that we are now offering the Semaglutide Weight Loss Program! This plan is unique because there are no calorie restrictions and Semaglutide does not include any type of stimulants. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) indicates that 73.6% of adults who are over age 20 are considered overweight. 41.9% of them are considered obese. In fact, according to the CDC, obesity is now considered a national epidemic!
The first step to prevention of chronic disease is to lose weight. Some chronic diseases can also be reversed by losing weight. We are here to help you achieve your weight loss goals. Not only will you gain confidence, but you will also experience better overall health. You will have more energy and better quality of life!
Duke University has also completed studies which show that life expectancy for Millennials and Gen Xers is going down. Decreased life expectancy hasn’t happened in decades. The root cause of many chronic diseases stems from obesity. These can include:
- Type 2 Diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease
- Stroke
- High blood pressure
- Fatty liver disease
- High cholesterol
- Some cancers
- Osteoarthritis
- Endocrine/hormone disorders to include Insulin Resistance, a precursor for Type 2 Diabetes
- Sleep apnea
- Mood disorders such as anxiety and depression
- Back and joint pain
- Dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease
Renewed Vitality is here to help you lose unwanted pounds in a safe and sustainable way! Please contact our New Patient Coordinator for your Free Phone Consultation by calling 214-740-4703, or complete the form below, and we will contact you at your convenience.
Benefits of the Semaglutide Weight Loss Plan
The biggest benefit from Semaglutide is that it reduces your appetite without stimulants and you will feel full for longer periods of time. It also keeps your body in fat-burning mode. The medication regulates blood sugar and targets fat cells. A big advantage to this is that you won’t have to worry about losing muscle mass or water weight loss (dehydration). It also reduces the production of plaque on your blood vessels.
There are no food restrictions. However, you will need to eat a “clean” diet of nutrient dense foods and proteins or you will not feel well while on the diet. If you start to eat healthier foods, you will feel good and have higher amounts of energy.
Fortunately, Semaglutide helps with cravings, and you will find that processed foods containing sugars and simple starches no longer sound good to eat. Our patients who have changed their eating patterns say that it’s fairly easy to do because of the medication. As you proceed with your weight loss journey, you will automatically start to develop healthier eating habits which can last a lifetime.
Exercise is not mandatory to lose weight on the Semaglutide program. But, we do recommend that you start incorporating exercise into your lifestyle because of all the additional health benefits. If you haven’t exercised in a while, just going out for a walk can be the fresh start that you need.
Other Benefits of the Semaglutide Program can Include:
- Increased levels of energy
- Physical hunger and cravings go away
- Better sleep
- Helps with insulin pathways and blood sugar levels
- The longer you stay on the program, the better you will feel
- You can expect to lose 15% of your body weight on average, but this also depends on how much weight you want to lose
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a peptide that mimics a naturally occurring peptide in the body. Called GLP-1, or glucagon-like-peptide. It reduces appetite and reduces food cravings. It also helps to keep your blood sugar regulated. We prescribe Semaglutide which has been compounded in various doses, specifically for you. The compound also includes Vitamin B6 to help overcome side effects such as nausea. It activates specific metabolic pathways in your body which increases blood sugar metabolism and reduces hunger.
Semagltude, marketed under such brand names as Ozempic® , Wegovy®,and Saxenda®, was FDA-approved to treat Type 2 Diabetes in 2017. Further studies and research showed that Semaglutide is also suitable for weight loss. In June, 2021, the FDA approved Semaglutide to help people lose weight.
At Renewed Vitality, we prescribe Semaglutide as a compounded medication. All of our patients start off at a lower dose for the first month to allow your body to adjust to the medication. We then increase your dosage month by month to help you continue to lose weight. This weight loss plan can be repeated as needed, depending on how much weight you want to lose.
The medication is injected subcutaneously once per week. Because the needle is not injected into muscle, it’s quite painless.
Our 4-month Semaglutide weight loss program includes:
- Initial appointment with our Nurse Practitioner, Taylor Troup
- Follow-up appointment with Taylor after 1-month
- 3-month follow up with Taylor
Your First Appointment
Taylor will discuss the diet program, your overall current state of health, and your health goals. You will be sent for your initial set of labs which include, a CBC (complete blood count), CMP (complete metabolic panel), and a full thyroid panel.
We do recommend that before starting the diet that you complete the Core Restore Liver Cleanse. This is optional, but if you choose to do the cleanse, it’s offered at a price of $125 and lasts for 7-days.
We also offer our protein powder for purchase if you are interested. Also, to aid in your weight loss and help keep your energy up, we also offer B12 Injections as needed for a cost of $20 each.
*note: labs are not included with the initial cost of the program. You can use your insurance for labs. If you do not have insurance or you have a high deductible, we offer a discounted, cash price of $40 if you go through Quest. At your appointment, Taylor may add additional labs as needed, however the prices will still be deeply discounted if you are paying cash.
You will receive your first prescription for Semaglutide which will last you for 1-month. You can obtain your compounded RX at Formulations Pharmacy in Plano. The pharmacy also provides delivery for a nominal fee depending on where you live. When you purchase your prescription for the initial month, the cost will be $160.
Your Second Appointment
Taylor will go over your initial labs with you and review your progress on the weight loss plan. You both will have the opportunity to discuss how you are feeling and Taylor can answer any other questions that you may have.
At your second appointment, Taylor will write your second prescription for Semgalutide, which will last you for three months. She may also increase your dosage at this point. Pricing for your prescription may increase if the dose is increased. Formulations Pharmacy will allow you to purchase your Semaglutide each month, or you may pay for all three months in advance.
Taylor Troup, FNP, will be available to answer questions for you throughout the program. The best way to contact her with your questions is to send her a direct message through your patient portal.
Your Third Appointment
This appointment takes place 3-months after the second. We will contact you prior to this appointment to repeat your labs so that we can discuss them when you arrive for your appointment. Taylor can also answer any questions you may have and discuss your progress, and whether or not you would like to continue with the program.
Should you decide to continue with the Semaglutide program after the initial 4-months, you will be given another RX at your third visit for 3-months of medication. For patients who want to do the program longer-term, we will schedule follow-up maintenance appointments every 3-months.
The length of time that you choose to continue on the program is up to you, depending on how much weight you want to lose. Patients wishing to lose a lot of weight usually stay on the program for 1-year.
Side -Effects
It’s normal to feel a little nauseous for the first few days after beginning the program as your body adjusts to the medication. Semaglutide is compounded with Vitamin B6 which will help curb any digestive issues. Should you continue to experience nausea after the first few days, please contact Taylor via your patient portal and she can write you a prescription for an anti-nausea medication.
Absolute Contraindications
While the majority of patients can safely take Semaglutide, not everyone can due to certain conditions. Contraindications include:
