Acute COVID-19 Treatment
For the safety of all of our patients and staff, we are not seeing COVID-positive patients in-clinic, nor do we do COVID-19 testing. If you have confirmation that you do have the Corona Virus, we will complete your initial appointment over the phone.
We are proactive in the medications that we prescribe and also offer inhalers for those who are having issues with breathing. In general, we will prescribe a cocktail of hydroxychloroquine and antibiotics, however, we do understand that each patient has different needs, and we will adapt protocols accordingly. We do have special breathing treatments that can help too.
We will schedule your follow-up appointment (after you test negative) to continue to help with your recovery process. For those who are still experiencing after-effects of COVID, we have protocols in place designed to boost your immune system, help you continue to heal, and monitor you for any potentially damaging effects from the virus.
While these conditions can put you at higher risk, there are a lot of people who don’t have any known underlying issues, but who still experience debilitating and long-lasting side symptoms from the virus. There is no “one size fits all” COVID experience, and each person will react differently.
At Renewed Vitality, we incorporate a Functional Medicine approach when treating our patients. What this means is that we will not only treat you for your illness, but we also spend the necessary time with each patient to get to know you, your symptoms, and your health history. This allows us to be able to delve deep and identify and address your specific health issues and any underlying causes that may be contributing to the way you respond to the virus. We do treat you with medications as needed, but will also help you to strengthen your immune system, and identify and treat conditions that can cause you to continue to have health issues.
Post-COVID Treatment for Complications
Some people who have had COVID-19 are continuing to have long-lasting symptoms which can be debilitating. These patients are often referred to as “long haulers.” Because everyone reacts differently to the virus, the same applies to those experiencing complications from it. These symptoms can include:
- Inflammation in various parts of the body including the brain, lungs, and heart.
- Intense fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- Cough
- Joint pain
- Chest pain, or an ongoing burning sensation in the chest
- Muscle pain
- Headaches
- Loss of smell and taste
- Rash
- Hair loss
- Memory issues
- Concentration problems, aka brain fog
- Sleep issues
- Blood clots
- Blood vessel inflammation
- Anxiety
- Panic attacks
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
The Best Offense is a Good Defense
If you’ve been to your family physician and had blood work done, you may have seen a portion of the picture of what’s going on in your body. Our providers run a comprehensive and thorough panel of tests that looks at organ function, inflammation levels, and hormonal issues to include thyroid, adrenal function, insulin resistance, cortisol, some genetic mutations, key vitamin deficiencies, and more.
By determining what’s lacking, we can help you build your immune system for optimal health and resilience. For example, we can identify if you have problems with your liver or your thyroid, both of which are important for immunity and detoxification. For those suffering from chronic disease issues, our providers can help to look for underlying causes to get you back on the road to better health and reduce your risk factors as you age.
Our wellness visits are designed to identify the root causes so that you can heal and be OPTIMALLY healthy so that you can live your life with vitality and wellness.
